CCTV News:Recently, some media reported that hepatitis C infection broke out in hemodialysis patients in Dongtai People’s Hospital of Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province. Today (27th), Dongtai Municipal People’s Government responded to this matter.

According to the report of Dongtai Municipal People’s Government, on May 13th, Dongtai Municipal Health and Health Commission received a report from the Municipal People’s Hospital that hepatitis C antibody was newly positive among hemodialysis patients in the blood purification center of the hospital, and it was suspected that nosocomial infection occurred.

The State, Jiangsu Province and Yancheng Health and Health Commission organized an expert group to the scene to guide the investigation and handling. After screening and testing of all hemodialysis patients, 69 cases of hepatitis C virus infection were diagnosed and confirmed. According to the investigation of the expert group, this incident is an nosocomial infection incident caused by the inadequate implementation of the hospital nosocomial infection management system.

On May 13th, a patient with positive hepatitis C antibody was found in the blood purification center of Dongtai People’s Hospital, and then the hospital screened 161 patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment in the hospital. After the screening on May 16th, it was found that 69 people were infected with hepatitis C virus, including 50 males and 19 females, the oldest being 77 years old and the youngest being 26 years old. On the 16th, Dongtai Health Construction Committee reported the situation to Yancheng Health Construction Committee.
