Autonavi released the Autonavi map car version (AMAP AUTO) on April 7. This car-machine version of navigation simply takes the navigation originally displayed on the mobile phone and moves it to the car screen, and then adds some new elements: such as a cloud and multiple screens, and a mobile phone car-machine interconnection function to solve the problem of walking navigation after getting off the car. At first glance, this product seems to only make it convenient for users to use navigation while driving, but while making it convenient for users, Autonavi also solves an industry pain point: the front-mounted car navigation is not easy to use.
It has become an indisputable fact that the front-mounted car navigation is not easy to use. There are many reasons for this phenomenon, but the final result is only one: even if the car navigation is installed, many people will still use the navigation products on their mobile phones. Using mobile phone navigation during driving is very dangerous, so it is often necessary for the co-pilot’s partner to temporarily play the role of "navigator". If the car navigation can be used better, the happiness index of travel will be improved.
Compared to the mobile version of navigation, the biggest innovation on the Autonavi map car version is the addition of the function of one cloud multi-screen and mobile phone car-machine interconnection. The function of one cloud multi-screen is easier to understand. In addition to the main screen of the central control that can display navigation information, the screen belonging to the rear passengers in the car can also display navigation information synchronously.
The function of mobile phone car-machine interconnection is more practical. When the destination we navigate is still some distance away from the parking location and we need to continue to use the navigation after getting off the bus, the navigation on the car can directly transfer the destination information to the mobile phone, allowing the mobile phone to continue to navigate for the user without entering the destination again.
One of the reasons why I would rather hold my phone and watch the navigation by myself when driving than use the original navigation in the car is because the mobile navigation can plan the smoothest route according to real-time road conditions. If the navigation is moved to the car, can it still avoid congested road sections?
Of course. Autonavi connects online through the Wi-Fi hotspot provided by the mobile phone, and completes functions such as map updates in this way. But this method also has drawbacks: if the vehicle does not have the function of connecting to the network, the mobile phone needs to keep the Wi-Fi hotspot on all the time to provide real-time road condition information to the car, but this will consume a lot of power. So for those car owners who can use SIM to connect to the Internet, the Autonavi map version of the car will be more practical.
Autonavi is working with two independent manufacturers, Geely and Changan, to install the Autonavi map car version directly in front of the products of these two brands. It also supports the use of models of Volkswagen,,,, and many other brands. It will cooperate with more brands in the future. Dr. Li Yusheng, chief engineer of the General Engineering Research Institute, said that in addition to the Autonavi map car version installed in the front of Changan products as a navigation, it will also consider cooperating with Autonavi in the autonomous driving project of Changan.
