Or is it a sedan version? Toyota Crown’s new model is about to debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show

A few days ago, we learned from the official channels of FAW Toyota that the new model of the Crown family will be unveiled at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show. In June this year, the Crown SportCross has been listed in China. It is a crossover car with a price range of 369,000-429,000 yuan.

Previously, the Crown family released models, as well as a sedan and two SUVs, and according to the information received, the upcoming or Crown Sedan, that is, the sedan version, will also be imported by FAW Toyota in the future. The price should be similar to the Crown SportCross.

Compared with the Crown SportCross, which is more youthful and sporty, the Crown Sedan, which is a sedan, is a bit more composed. The front face is divided into upper and lower layers, and the visual center of gravity is occupied by the huge polygonal air intake grille. The interior is filled with black straight waterfall-style trims, which take into account the visual impact and atmospheric effect. Both sides are equipped with vertical diversion grooves, which not only bring a certain sense of movement, but also help the tires and brake discs to dissipate heat.

The top half of the front face is allocated with a through light strip, and the far and near lights on both sides are composed of four sets of LED light sources arranged horizontally to form a hidden effect, adding a bit of personality to the front face. In addition, the crown logo has been moved to the front of the hood.

The side lines of the Crown Sedan are mainly straight, showing a rather smooth visual effect. With the large-size dense-spoke turbofan-style wheels below, it shows the aura and sense of grade that a medium and large car should have. It is more in line with the classic image of the crown in our minds.

In order to echo the front face, the tail is also equipped with a through taillight, the crown logo and the "CROWN" English logo are separated from the middle by the light strip. There are vertical vents on both sides of the rear surround, and the bottom is a cross-type rear bumper, which performs well in terms of youth and fashion. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5030/1890/1470mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3000mm.

In the car, the design of the Crown Sedan and the Crown SportCross is consistent, keeping up with the current trend of the times, replaced with a 12.3-inch floating central control screen, and connected to the 12.3-inch full LCD meter hood. There is also a light gold trim below, which extends to the position where the air conditioner is trending. The steering wheel also adopts a new shape, which looks quite textured.

Some physical buttons for common functions are retained below the trend of the air conditioner, and the central channel area integrates an electronic stop lever, a wireless charging panel for mobile phones, and two water cup holders. The interior design of this set continues Toyota’s usual conservative design style. Although it is not refreshing at the moment, it cannot be found too much fault. However, the door panels and the central channel area are supplemented by wood grain trim panels, and a large number of leather packages are added to the entire interior to create a nice luxurious atmosphere.

The Crown Sedan is built on the Toyota TNGA-K platform and adopts a front-drive layout. The power part should also be compatible with the Crown SportCross, providing a 2.5L gasoline-electric hybrid system and a 2.4T gasoline-electric hybrid system. The former is composed of a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine + front single motor, and the comprehensive power of the system is 160 kilowatts, matching the E-CVT gearbox; the latter is composed of a 2.4T turbocharged engine + dual motors, with a comprehensive power of 255 kW and a comprehensive torque of up to 551 Nm. It is matched with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, with a 100-kilometer acceleration time of 5.8 seconds. It is also equipped with an E-Four Advance electronic four-wheel drive system. It will also provide an AVS adaptive variable suspension system.

The change of the new generation of Toyota Crown is not obvious. It has changed the image of moderation that it gave people in the past. Although this design can be refreshing, it can also cater to the aesthetics of young consumers. However, it is undeniable that most of the audience groups before the Crown were middle-aged consumers. If you look at young fashion now, I don’t know if you can accept it for a while.

In addition, with reference to the price of the Crown SportCross, the Crown Sedan should not be sold cheaply, which will inevitably overlap with some luxury brand models. Although Toyota is committed to building the Crown into its high-end product series, when facing luxury brand models, it obviously requires a certain amount of emotion and courage to choose the Crown. If it were you, how would you choose? (Text/comfortable heart)
