The remains of eight stowaways were found in the river between Canada and the United States

  China news agency, Toronto, April 2-Canadian police recently found eight dead people in the St. Lawrence River at the border between Canada and the United States. The police believed that they were stowaways trying to enter the United States, and confirmed the identity of two of them on April 1.

  On March 30, the police found the bodies of six victims and a damaged and overturned boat in the swamp along the St. Lawrence River at the junction of Ontario, Quebec and New York. The incident area belongs to the Ake Viisas Ni Aboriginal community in Quebec. The next day, the local police found two more bodies.

  After a preliminary investigation, the police revealed that the victims were believed to come from a Romanian family and an Indian family who tried to cross the border into the United States. These include a child under 3 years old and a 1-year-old baby who both hold Canadian passports.

  On April 1, the police disclosed the identity of two Romanian couples who were both 28 years old. They are the parents of two young children.

  The identities of the other four Indian deceased have not yet been determined.

  Another 30-year-old Ak Viisas Ni community resident believed to be a boatman is still missing.

  It is reported that on the evening of March 29, the local area encountered bad weather mixed with strong winds and rain and snow.

  Police sources said that the local area has always been a "hot channel" for smuggling, and the number of cases of smuggling to the United States has recently increased.
