The tropical depression in the South China Sea intensified to the 17th typhoon "Lion Mountain" (tropical storm level) this year at 5: 00 on the 8th, with its center at 17.5 degrees north latitude and 111.3 degrees east longitude, that is, on the sea surface about 175 kilometers east-south of Wanning City, Hainan Province, the maximum wind force near the center is 8 (18 m/s), and the lowest pressure at the center is 995 hectopascals.
The meteorological department of Hainan Province predicts that Lion Mountain will move to the north-west direction at a speed of about 10 kilometers per hour, and its intensity will gradually increase.
