Xinhua News Agency, Taiyuan, December 2 (Reporter Ma Xiaoyuan) At present, respiratory diseases have entered a period of high incidence, and fever is a typical symptom of respiratory infection in children. The reporter recently learned that some parents lack a correct understanding of fever, and often go to see a doctor in a hurry when their children have a fever, and some even "take a trip in the morning and take a trip in the afternoon", which brings unnecessary tossing to the children and affects their rest and rehabilitation. Experts remind that parents should correctly understand fever and avoid some misunderstandings.

Yin Huaiqing, director of pediatrics in the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, said that fever itself is a defensive reaction of the body and an important means for the human body to fight infection. Moderate fever can improve the efficiency of the immune system. Some parents expect their children’s body temperature to return to normal after taking antipyretic drugs, which is a misunderstanding. The purpose of taking antipyretics is not to let the child’s body temperature drop to normal, but to relieve the discomfort caused by the child’s fever, so that the child can spend the fever period relatively comfortably.
Yin Huaiqing pointed out that whether it is influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, rhinovirus, adenovirus or mycoplasma pneumoniae, most of them are self-limited, that is, the development of the disease can be controlled and gradually recovered by the patient’s own immunity, but rehabilitation needs a process, and the improvement and recovery of respiratory diseases often takes about 5 days. "After respiratory infection, fever and cough are almost inevitable. As long as there are no signs of aggravation in this process, there is no need to go to the hospital repeatedly." Yin Huaiqing said.
Experts also reminded that no matter what kind of pathogen infection, if the child has any of the following situations, he needs to seek medical attention in time: First, he has been feverish for more than 3 days or has an ultra-high fever of 41 C or above; Second, the fever process is accompanied by poor spirit and lethargy; The third is severe cough and even wheezing. In addition, if the child is younger, especially the baby under 6 months, he should seek medical treatment at any time as appropriate; Children with a history of febrile convulsions and a family history of febrile convulsions should also actively seek medical treatment.
Yin Huaiqing said that to prevent all kinds of respiratory diseases, we should also develop sanitary habits such as wearing masks, washing hands frequently and ventilation, and advocate children and other key groups to actively vaccinate relevant vaccines, and do not advocate taking drugs in advance to prevent diseases; We should keep enough sleep and a light and nutritious diet to enhance our ability to resist diseases.
