The Paper combed the first-instance judgment and found that Moutai was a key word in Gao Yongchang’s bribery. In six years, he received more than 200 bottles of Moutai, including 53-degree flying Maotai, customized Maotai, vintage Maotai and Zodiac Maotai, with a total value of nearly 500,000 yuan.

The judgment of the first instance shows that Zhou is familiar with Gao Yongchang. After Gao Yongchang went to Gui ‘an New District as the director of the Public Security Bureau, Zhou and her husband came to Gui ‘an New District to seek development, and with the help of Gao Yongchang and others, they established Guizhou Gui ‘an New District Ruijie Security Service Co., Ltd.
In order to thank Gao Yongchang for his help in the company’s operation, Zhou and her husband successively gave Gao Yongchang 2.472 million yuan. In addition, in the Spring Festival of 2014 and 2015, Zhou sent six bottles of 53-degree Feitian Moutai to Gao Yongchang’s home every year. In 2017, before Gao Yongchang’s birthday, he sent six bottles of fifteen-year Maotai vintage wine to Gao Yongchang’s home. The value of Moutai sent by Zhou totaled 43,182 yuan.
In August 2020, tongren city Intermediate People’s Court made a first-instance judgment: Gao Yongchang was convicted of accepting bribes, sentenced to 11 years and 6 months in prison and fined 1.5 million yuan. The stolen money and its fruits obtained from bribery shall be recovered according to law and turned over to the state treasury.
